How you can support Atlanta organizations during COVID-19

As the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) public health situation evolves, it directly impacts Downtown Atlanta residents, offices, small businesses, Atlanta hotels, and cultural institutions.

In Central Atlanta Progress' and Atlanta Downtown Improvement District's efforts to continue serving as a resource during this difficult time, we advocate for our community members, share information when necessary, and assist with economic recovery when necessary.

Until then, we must all take care of each other, especially those in need. Listed below are organizations that need donations, volunteers, and financial assistance.

We welcome your feedback on this list, including corrections and new entries. Please contact marketing@atlantadowntown.com.

Over 5000 meals are delivered every day to vulnerable Atlantans through Open Hand. The organization currently needs financial contributions and volunteers.

Due to COVID-19, Crossroads Ministries will only provide sack lunches as part of its daily meal service in Clyde's Kitchen. Consequently, they will need a variety of items to sustain this effort over the next few weeks. The following are ways you can help:

Sandwiches and/or full sack lunches (including chips, granola bars, fruit, bottled water, etc.) can be dropped off by Clyde's Kitchen any weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Donate sack lunch items such as bread, sandwiches, cheese, chip bags, granola bars, fruit, and bottled water. Likewise, these can be delivered on the same schedule.

By designating Lunches in the memo box, you can make a donation at the link below. One sack lunch can be provided for $2. https: / / crossroadsatlanta.org / give /

Contributions to Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund are being sought through the United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta. We welcome questions about the fund or our work at www.unitedwayatlanta.org, or you can reach us at info@unitedwayatlanta.org.

In addition to providing financial assistance, the Giving Kitchen offers community resources to food service workers in need. A growing outbreak has led to restaurants changing operations, canceling gatherings, and closing entirely. Give one-time donations or participate through their Pass the Hat program to assist food service workers.

It has served the Metro Atlanta community for 162 years. Find more information on the COVID-19 Response Hub, as well as ways to support the Y's important work.
