There are 5 downtown Atlanta gems you must rediscover

It's likely that you will notice some exciting changes if you haven't been to Downtown Atlanta in a while. A quick look at a few destinations to rediscover.

PEACHTREE CENTER

The downtown office, retail, and dining destination, Peachtree Center, just underwent massive renovations that have given it a whole new lease on life, particularly the outdoor plaza and The Hub (aka the Atlanta mall and food court). The plaza's new water features will provide you with a few moments of peace before you head downstairs to enjoy a meal at any of the dining outlets, such as Aviva by Kameel or BEP! Vietnamese. A new escape room has been opened in Peachtree Center.

SOUTH DOWNTOWN

With a number of catalytic projects soon to be underway, from Underground Atlanta and the Gulch to the renovation of 45+ historic buildings acquired by Newport US RE, South Downtown is set to undergo enormous changes. Until then, check out Newport's Pop Up Row on Mitchell Street, aka Historic Hotel Row, where eight retail spaces are home to local creators, artists, and makers (through July). Thursdays at Hotel Row feature food trucks for lunch.

CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC PARK

It was the 20th anniversary of Parks when the Georgia General Assembly, the private sector, and philanthropic communities contributed funds to projects aimed at improving community accessibility, strengthening Olympic heritage, and enhancing the visitor experience. The exciting updates include a new entrance on Baker Street, the transformation of Andrew Young International Boulevard into a pedestrian promenade, more greenspace and open vistas, and new monuments, including the Spectacular, making for an epic photo backdrop. BROAD STREET

Broad Street is still the shady, historic street filled with local businesses you love, but there's a new energy that's making it even better. Get a bite to eat or grab some coffee on the Broad Street Boardwalk, located between Poplar and Luckie Streets, right behind FlatironCity. You can catch up on work, hold an informal office meeting, or chat with friends here. Perhaps you'll even catch a pop-up dance performance or a busking performance.

WOODRUFF PARK

A Southwest Airlines grant has sparked revitalization efforts in downtown's front yard. This year, Atlanta Woodruff Park not only has a new logo, but also new furniture, umbrellas, banners, a mobile kiosk (the Game Cart), a public art program, and an expanded nature area. You can participate in Saturday morning yoga, twice-monthly Atlanta history tours, or special events such as Food Truck Fridays and Doggy Con. Park team events are always free and open to the public.
